Guide
The Nike Kobe IX Low is the low-cut version of Kobe Bryant's 9th signature shoe, released in 2014. It was the first basketball shoe to use Flyknit construction, featuring a Lunarlon cushioning system, low-to-the-ground profile, and the kind of aggressive traction pattern that made Kobe shoes famous among guards. It sits between performance basketball and collector markets.
Questions answered
When new, it was an excellent performance shoe with great court feel, traction, and lockdown. However, most pairs available now are aged and the Lunarlon foam has likely degraded, making them unsuitable for serious basketball without sole swaps.
The Flyknit upper conforms to the foot, so true to size works for most. The snug knit construction adapts to foot shape better than traditional leather uppers, making fit less of an issue than with other Kobes.
Limited supply from 2014 production, Kobe Bryant's legacy, and the shoe's significance as the first Flyknit basketball shoe all drive collector demand. Prices have climbed steadily as deadstock pairs become rarer.
The Kobe 6 is generally considered the best Kobe for actual basketball with its balanced performance profile. The Kobe 9 Low is more innovative with Flyknit but slightly more polarizing in ride feel. Both are highly regarded in the line.
