The 740 belongs to New Balance's early-2000s fitness-running catalog, an era of mesh uppers, segmented midsoles and ABZORB cushioning aimed at everyday mileage rather than racing. New Balance revived it as part of the broader Y2K runner wave that also pulled models like the 530 and 1906R back into rotation.
