It'll End in Tears is the debut album from the 4AD collective This Mortal Coil, a project led by label head Ivo Watts-Russell. The album features a rotating cast of guest musicians and vocalists from the 4AD roster and beyond, including members of Cocteau Twins, Colourbox, Dead Can Dance, and post-punk artist Howard Devoto. Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins notably performs on two tracks, including a rendition of Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren".
