The boxy Sundae Jacket has been with us since the very start. It’s got a boxy fit, buttons on the front and two pockets. This one, though, is a little different.
Part of our revived Artist Series, it’s made from a handwoven cotton fabric from Thailand. The weave is unusual, blanket-like, patterned, familiar but also a bit odd (oddity with intention). Think of the hidden linings in old vintage jackets, the kind you only notice after a few wears. That’s the spirit here.
When we first made this jacket, we came across a small run of fabric that had already been woven. It disappeared quickly, and once it was gone, we thought that was the end of it. But after a lot of asking, we were able to work directly with the original weavers to recreate the fabric especially for us. It’s the same distinctive weave, made again in small batches, so we could bring the jacket back.
