The Musk Monkeyflower, originally known as The Common Musk, was imported to Europe from the American west coast. Its sun-yellow flowers, found on fuzzy, sticky stalks in meadows and along dirt roads, became popular in Victorian England for their rich musk scent. The flower's popularity spread widely until the turn of the twentieth century when it mysteriously lost its fragrance.
