Rick Owens introduces L’Apparition, a new scented candle inspired by Gustave Moreau’s 19th-century depiction of Salomé, created to accompany his retrospective at the Palais Galliera in Paris. Rooted in themes of unrequited desire, divine vengeance, and ecstatic doom, the candle embodies Owens’ signature sense of decadence. Inspired by the lotus flower held by Moreau’s Salomé, a symbol of purity and death, the fragrance opens with airy lotus before unfolding into warm labdanum and a smoky base of myrrh, frankincense, and ambergris. Handmade and hand-poured in France, the candle is presented in a black glass vessel designed for reuse. Once finished, it can hold a single flower stem, extending its purpose beyond its burn.
