With great power comes great responsibility. When presented with a Made in UK project, we had to deliver.
The 991v2 is a mainstay around these parts—combining traditional NB looks with modern comfort. The U991UT2 came to life with the help of New Balance designer Sam Pearce, made to evoke the era of NBs we grew up with, seeking inspiration from the 577NBW and an unreleased 1500 sample from the same era.
Made with technical mesh and smooth full-grain leather and Helcor leather in a 3D carbon fibre pattern. With any UT release, we needed to load-up on reflective panels—including the saddle—not previously done on the 991v2—which the Flimby team kindly obliged.
The palette of black and reflective silver is interrupted by flashes of our signature green. Inverted "Made in England" on the tongue pays homage to our home down under whilst "+61" replaces the 991 badge—a nod to the international calling code for Australia.
