Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon where the stimulation of one sense leads to an automatic and involuntary experience in a secondary sense. People with this condition often claim to hear colors and see sounds amongst other alternative perceptions. About 4% of the population is said to have the condition.

Another form of Synesthesia is known as vEAR. Visually Evoked Auditory Response or the Visual Ear. People with the vEAR condition claim to hear gifs and videos that do not have sound.
