Hinterhof represents the final chapter of Emmett Edelstein's Der Edelstein series, examining Berlin's concealed courtyards as autonomous territories within the city's writing landscape. Succeeding Wand (2016) and Rauschen (2017), this volume investigates the intentional migration from exposed street surfaces toward enclosed, permission-dependent zones. These spaces operate under distinct parameters: accessing and documenting work requires intimate knowledge of the urban fabric, revealing interventions sequestered in stairwells and obscured passages. The publication archives a specialized artistic practice that crystallized during the 2000s, preserving evidence of creation deliberately positioned outside mainstream visibility—a field of action sustained by its restricted nature and the dedication necessary to engage with it authentically. 100 pages, 21 x 29,7 cm, Language: German & English
