The Asics x Needles EX89 is a special edition collaboration that reimagines the GEL-EXTREME, originally released in 1989 as a high-end basketball shoe. The EX89 updates the classic silhouette with modern cushioning technology. The original GEL-EXTREME is notable as the debut work of Shunichi Kayano, the creator of the GEL-KAYANO, with its outsole design inspired by cityscapes viewed from an airplane during Kayano's first trip to America.
