Key facts
Shoe intelligence
The BAPE STA OS #1 is an oversized, chunky version of BAPE's signature Bape STA sneaker. BAPE (A Bathing Ape) introduced the STA in 2000 as a fashion-forward sneaker with a shooting star logo on the side panel. The OS version scales up the proportions with a thicker midsole and exaggerated silhouette, following the chunky sneaker trend. Like all BAPE footwear, it's sold through BAPE retail channels and select streetwear stores.
The materials and construction don't match the price point. At $200-300, the synthetic leather and basic foam midsole feel like a $100 shoe with a $150+ brand tax. Buyers are paying for the BAPE name and the shooting star logo, not superior materials.
The Air Force 1 offers better leather quality, superior cushioning, and broader cultural recognition at roughly half the price. The Bape STA's advantage is exclusively brand identity — if you want the BAPE logo, no Nike shoe can replace it.
The OS adds chunk and visual weight to the silhouette, following the oversized sneaker trend. If you want the bolder look, the OS delivers it. If you prefer a cleaner proportioned shoe, the standard STA is more versatile.
Limited colorways and collaborations hold some value, but general release Bape STAs typically drop below retail on the secondary market. BAPE's footwear doesn't carry the same resale premium as their apparel.
