Medicom Toy was founded in Tokyo in 1996 by Tatsuhiko Akashi, and debuted the BE@RBRICK collectible figure in 2001. The bear-shaped vinyl toy became one of the most sought-after objects in designer toy culture, spawning collaborations with artists, fashion houses, and brands that bridge streetwear, art, and luxury collecting.
