Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham, a Swedish-Indian former basketball player turned self-taught perfumer who was inspired to explore the connection between scent and memory after meeting French perfumer Pierre Wulff. The brand expanded from fragrances into leather goods and accessories, and is now majority-owned by Spanish conglomerate Puig.
