Brooks was founded in 1914 in Philadelphia by John Brooks Goldenberg following his purchase of the Quaker Shoe Company. Originally producing shoes for multiple sports, Brooks pivoted to running in 1972 and introduced EVA cushioning foam with the Villanova in 1975, a technology later adopted industry-wide.
