A.P.C. was founded in 1987 by Jean Touitou in Paris as Atelier de Production et de Création — a reaction against the flashy maximalism of 1980s fashion. Touitou built the label around raw selvedge denim, unadorned basics, and a quiet Parisian intellectual sensibility that became a template for an entire category of understated menswear.
