Alpha Industries was founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee, by Samuel Gelber to manufacture flight jackets under U.S. Department of Defense contracts. The company produced iconic military outerwear like the MA-1 bomber and M-65 field jacket, which crossed over from military surplus into streetwear and fashion staples.
